The third place is our place.

What started as a gathering of semi-strangers is now a monthly open house at Bar Botanical in Crozet. We meet every third Thursday. All people who identify as women, in any shape or form, are invited.

"Come as we are and meet at our third place."

A place separate from home and work, where we can network, connect, and grow as a community of women empowered by our own shared experiences and stories.

what's it all about

More women you know, more you know.

An initiative in support of women from all walks of life. It's never just one thing.

Come together

Connection

Inspired by the principle that we get further together. Participants intersect to help get you where you want to go.

Friends for a reason

Friendship

Make new friends, keep the old. This is for meeting your matches, in the very best way.

Idea exchange

Discussion

Discussion prompts, witty name cards, and good food and drink. Big-picture ideation in a small, easy space.

Monthly event

Third Thursday

It's only fitting that Third Place Thursdays land on the third Thursday of every month. Open door, open to everyone.

About this effort

Support

Founded in support of women from all walks of life. You leave knowing more people, and feeling a little more supported.

Local love

Community

We rally around local businesses, nonprofits, and each other. Shout-outs, referrals, and a hand when it's needed. When one of us rises, we all do.

our little tradition

A wish to the universe.

Near the end of every gathering, we each write down one thing that captures where we are, plus a hope we're holding. We fold them up and drop them in a jar.

On the way out, everyone takes one that isn't their own. Anonymous, unless you choose otherwise. For the whole next month, a friend or a stranger holds your wish and quietly roots for it.

It isn't mystical. It's just proof that someone out there is thinking of you and wishing you well.

kind words

What the space feels like.

"I have always been nervous to get out of the house and meet strangers, but TPT has given me the inspiration to feel more confident in the world and in new situations."

come nervous. we'll take it from there.

"I came alone, a little terrified, and left with new numbers and a lighter chest. I haven't missed one since."

flying solo? you're in good company.

"It's the one night a month that's just mine. No one needs anything from me. I just get to be a person."

consider your third thursday claimed.

"I still have the wish I pulled taped to my mirror. I think about her, whoever she is, all the time."

yours goes in the jar too.
Third Place Thursdays spotlight
a weekly spotlight

Your turn to shine.

Every week we feature one woman from our community, here and on Instagram. A founder, a maker, a helper, a friend. In the spirit of women lifting women, we'd love it to be you.

Fill this out and you're in the running. Open to women professionals and entrepreneurs in our community, members and followers alike.

Every spotlight is designed by Lynsie at Roost Studio, the same studio behind this site.

One woman featured each week. We'll be in touch.

good to know

A few quick questions.

Do I need to RSVP?

Nope. Drop-ins are always welcome. It helps to say hi on Instagram if you're planning to come, but it's never required.

Is there a cost?

No cover charge. It's buy-your-own, so bring an appetite. Once you arrive, scan the QR code to order food and drinks.

Who is it for?

Anyone who identifies as a woman, in any shape or form. Come on your own or bring a friend from outside the circle.

What if I don't know anyone?

Perfect, that's most people's first time. We have a reserved section just past the bar: step off the elevator and head toward the far windows. Don't see us and it's a nice night? We're out on the patio. Name tags and a few prompts make the rest easy.

Where do I park, and when should I arrive?

Park in the lot next to Piedmont Place, with more up the hill, then head to the top floor. Doors are at 6, but come when you can. The night is loose by design.

stay connected

Opt in for updates.

A warm note before each gathering, the theme for the month, and the details that make it easy to show up. A couple times a month, never spam. The "we" is just me, Lynsie, and I don't have that kind of time.

One friendly note before each gathering. Unsubscribe anytime.

for local voices

Got something to share?

We keep the night loose on purpose. There's no agenda and nothing scheduled, just a mingle and a sip, or a circle with five conversations going at once.

Even so, we love crossing paths with local professionals who have something to offer. If you're a therapist, author, coach, maker, or small-business owner, reach out and we'll find a natural way to fold you in.
